ANNUAL MEETING - 2011

President’s Report

ANNUAL MEETING

JUNE 8, 2011

What a meeting!  We had more than 2/3 of our membership who attended this year’s annual meeting.  Thank you to all who attended.  It was the biggest group since I have been a member.

Officer’s were elected for a two-year term.  President is Sue Manning and Corresponding Secretary is Joyce Maas.

Sue Manning reported on the Evaluator Practicum which was sponsored by MO-KAN and was held in April, 2011.  Eight participants attended with four from MO-KAN.  The new evaluators were introduced at the meeting.  They are Laurie Barksdale, Patty Levine, Amy Wurst and Julie Goodman.

Sixteen new members attended the meeting and were also introduced.

Goals for 2010 were offered to the membership.  The following have been added to the website:

            Member’s Responsibilities

            Evaluator Policies

            Delta’s Policies and Procedures

            Delta’s Code of Ethics

Additionally, two new goals are planned for 2010:

            Establishment of a MO-Kan Budget

Review of the MO-KAN Constitution and By-Laws

Our special speaker for the evening was Cynthia Smith, President of Wayside Waifs.  Cynthia gave us an overview of her book, “Dogs Get Cancer, Too” and other articles she is writing to be published in the Metro Pet magazine.  She gave a wonderful talk and we all appreciated her efforts to help pet owners with a tough event of living with their beloved pets through a cancer diagnosis.

We gave 5 of her books as door prizes to members who attended the meeting.

RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE POP TAB PANDOMONIUM
Thank you all SO much for being here on Saturday to make the Pop Tab Pandemonium event such a success!!
A note from Alan Lubert, who puts his absolute heart and soul into RMHC and the pop tab program:

There were lots of people who came today, many for the first time, many new supporters, many families from both Houses. We had more publicity than we've ever had -- a beautiful day, kids, dogs, ice cream, juggling, face painting, balloons, recycling, environmental awareness... and mountains of pop-tabs -- great combinations for fun and photos, and good opportunities to spread the news of our services for families and children.  Several people told me they hadn't ever been to the House before, but came because they heard about it on the morning news and wanted to be involved.

I appreciate everyone's help.
 Alan

It really was all of you who made this event so fun and successful!!!  I will have you all signed up for next year...  :)
